Jersey City Quilters Guild – Minutes for January 5, 2008

Attendance: Pat Dingleberry, Kathy Reagan, Ellen Kudlacik, Linda Olander, Bertha Steptoe, Althea Solomon, Girthia King, Lee McCarthy, Peggy McGeary, Rae Pinelli, Dorothy Pritchard, Marion Beckett, Martha Phillips, Jo Lezynski, Ximena Neira, Sandra Samaniego, Erica Vonderheid, Filomena Jack, Nancy DelloMonaco . (We did not pass an attendance sheet, so I hope I didn’t missed anybody). New People attending the meeting were Mary Bou, and Eileen Chmiel.
We wish to extend our condolences to Ida Jankowski and her family on the passing of her sister. We send best wishes Yolanda Martinez who is recovering from her recent Gall Bladder surgery.
Old Business:
Anna Faustino Workshop for February 2nd.

If you haven’t paid please bring $25 in cash to the Workshop.
Supplies you need to bring:
Cutting board, rotary cutter, 18” or longer ruler, pencil, red marker, light colored fabric (white, pink, yellow) enough to cover a 12” x 12” area or silk/fabric cut flowers from bridal store or craft store scrap booking section, scissors, iron with an extension cord, and 90 pins. The kit will contain all the other things you need.
Teacup Swap: Yolanda has a pattern for a teapot which she will bring to the March meeting. Lydia Sumpter was not at the meeting where the teacups were exchanged, and has her teacups so please bring one of your teacups to the March meeting.
Advertising: Peggy McGeary discussed her attempts to get information on the Guild in the local newspapers. She asked that if you see info on the Guild to bring in a copy for her.
Show ’n’ Tell:
Ellen Kudlacik showed us one of her Christmas presents a fabric calculator.
Lee McCarthy had showed us a wall hanging she had started with coffee mugs, now she had added her teacups as the border for this project.
Pat Dingleberry showed a fabric covered album which will be used to keep copies of Block of the Month instructions, and demonstrations. The album will be finished for the March meeting and have the Guild’s monogram on it.
Marion Beckett showed us the Redwork Santa Wall Hanging from last month, and a cat wall hanging also done in redwork. She talked about how she tried the thread Fil Kappock had recommended but said that she preferred to use embroidery floss.
Martha Phillips showed us her “Spring Flowers” wall hanging from an Anna Faustino workshop that she had already taken.
Sandra showed us her version of the “Spring Flowers” wall hanging only she used Christmas/Winter motifs instead of flowers, and Anna Faustino circle weave with Goddess Doll center wall hanging, a Robot Tote Bag made using pieces of fleece (we found out that Sandra has a love of robots).
Telephone Tree:
Sample of a tentative telephone tree was passed around so that any changes could be made.
Quilt Shows: Mancuso TriState (NJ, NY, PA) Quilt Show in Somerset New Jersey, from 2/28 to 3/3/08. The Nubian Quilters is 2/1 – 3, and 2/8 – 10,Friday/Saturday -- 1 - 4pm, Sunday –- 2 - 5pm, admission $5.
Fat Quarter Raffle: Lee McCarthy and Pat Dingleberry were the winners.
Block of the Month Raffle: won by Bertha Steptoe.
